Workyard by Trevis 15th January

Ciao Guys!

It was a long time that I wasn't posting anything, especially in my favorite section, the workyard.
This year the 11-12-13 of July, as you know there is a World Model Expo in Stresa, and therefore we have a lot of irons in the fire here in Hysteria Yard Team, although by my projects are just thrown on a piece of paper and then left to gather dust in some drawer of my Workyard..

Ah ha!!! Talking about workstation, with my family in december we moved into a bigger house ( ok not really big..just a bit bigger) ,where I have a room all for myself where I can work.
And then I passed the last two month visiting IKEA store, second hand furniture shops and finding furnitures abandoned on the side of the road..and slowly slowly my workyard is expanding .. here's a little preview.

The side for manual and dirt jobs, painting desk, photography corner (it is still a draft, but it is already functional), and above all plenty of space for friends who want to come visit and paint with me..so anyone wants to come to enjoy it there is place for everyone!
My Workyard is your workyard!

But back to us! In recent days, I picked up old projects that were in the drawer or by already started on the cabinet, but that for reasons of time, and to be honest probably also for mental exhaustion they have stagnated for a long time. I show you somethings..come with me..

For example..but just an example..I'm having a lot of experimenting and also fun with various water effects..

Or I'm tryng to evoke some otherworldly creature (do not deny that drawing the pentagram, I felt a bit in subjection)

And above all, probably, I will enjoy with a dear friend and colleague to play the game Malifaux..and here are the experiment of my two first pieces to do only for me. Believe me this is the first time.

Well I won't keep you too long..I hope you like this little visit to my Workyard..

and we'll see you very soon

Cheers!

Hello scoundrels, this is what I am doing at the moment. Hopefully I will manage to finish them for Monte San Savino. More realistically, the two Guide will be finished for Christmas.

Workyard by Kraan 30th June

Hello guys,
this is what I am actually doing at the moment.

The first on the left is the Barbarian for the Verduricchio Aureo contest on Legiopictorum, then we have Aahl from Figone and an Absarokee Warrior from Pegaso Models.
As you can see I played a little bit with the airbrush to try some colors and some directional lighting (first and second figure).
As you can see, the photo was taken on the 28th of June, but in these days I worked a lot on some of these figures.
Hopefully the Barbarian and the Indian will be done soon.

Hi guys

Not always, but sometimes I delight to work at night.
SILENCE, a few steps of the neighbors upstairs again SILENCE, the echo of the car passing in the street in front of my window and still SILENCE.
Sometimes I like to also put et the neck on my headphones and have a bit of background music, but it's not a must.

Then a nice cup of steaming hot coffee and so start to give vent to the hidden SCREAMING ideas.

It's pleasant, usually at night I don't paint (if I'm not taken at the last minute with deliveries), I just relax, I open a few blisters, I savor the fusion lines not yet clean, checking all small details and trying to imagine hundred of possible solutions.

I don't have the computer turned on..I don't want distractions thoughts of my daily life..I don't want think about tomorrow..I don't want to think about the possible commissions go up in smoke..I just want to have fun.
But the right word when I work at night is RELAX
During the night is no longer working.. it's an hobby, MY HOBBY!

Then after choosing the blister that I like..I drink another sip of coffee and go get some fresh air (or rather I'm going to smoke).
and BAM in front of me there's this scene..
OH YES..it's the right night, the right atmosphere..I enjoy it tonight.

And so it begins..like a song
just a list of mandatory things to do..as little intro
and on with the melody..
cut and paste,
some hole here and there,
milliput and magic sculpt always at hand..
yes a sweet working tools melody.

In the meantime I go out to take another breath of fresh air and to prime a bit of work for the next days..
and here is the second meeting of this interesting night.
not really nice as I usually don't turn on any lights to go out to smoke, and then I've got just put my hand over, before you feel that something was biting me.
However don't worry, and no panic..it's a common home spider..and at most the palm of my hand will bloat a bit, and my girlfriend will help me to remove the cap to the prosecco bottle.
So I do a pic as souvenir. Maybe it will be good for future project.

Last little checking to details to add and remove..and here is what came out.

just a moment to explain the mess in my WorkYard..
Behind on the left you can see the second stream of Hordes commission for gamer
4 razor boars
1 Road hog
1 War hog
1 Sturm & Drang
if it will continue like that I will start playing too.

In the right corner there is him! Norbit by Ammon miniature!
he is unarmed but with a nice little mouse in hand. Norbit is considering whether to eat it or use it as a prey for something bigger, but I'll see during processing what it will happen.

In the meantime, I want to remind you that the Indiegogo project by Ammon miniatures "DA CLASH!" is in place.
and there are soooo interesting pledge.

In the middle we find the resin limited version of Barker with Flamer by Studio McVey
I don't hide the fact that I'm trying to prepare this piece for the contest on Wamp..but I see it hard with my timing.

And finally a little advance of a part of project I'm doing in the freetime in the last months.
The 3 little puppets and not the behind WarHog.
Are they scared by the minion behind..or by whom?
Let's see if you can guess
..it's simple..do you want a little help? OK, Two of them are are part of a kit, although they are a little changed.
there is also a Prize.
Just be a follower of HysteriaYard blogspot and write the right answer in the comment of this post.
and the fastest correct reply will win the twisted serie blister by Wyrd "The Dwead Piwate Wuppwecht" sculpted by Emanuele aka "it's raining frogs".
the miniature will be sent  not painted and on his original blister
This is all for the moment.
Now I'm going to paint and good luck for the little quiz.

Cheers

Hello Guys
This is what I am currently working on. I am doing the pavois on my crossbow man.
I printed out the original and then using photoshop(changing sizes and using masks) I made a composition changing a few area of the orginal image to adapt it to the different type of pavois.
The man is done and it is waiting for the sword and crossbow to be glued on.

Hi Guys!

A few things are almost ready. The Thousand Sons Pre Heresy Contemptor and Assault Squad are almost ready. Just a few parts and they are ready to be shown and sold.

Then there is the Orc by Carmine "Thor" Giugliano (on the left) that is waiting to be primed with the airbush and the Vallejo primer black. It's a really nifty product. I recommend it.

The one in the plexiglass box is the Arbalester (crossbow man) with pavois ( on the right), made it by AMIS for the Genova contest.

And after a long commission of 35 points Army by Hordes..
tonight my work bench looks like this

A messy as usual.
The Dwarf bust is still on open water, maybe worse..but at least he is smiling

and with two new projects, a commission and "wild wild west" style work

I finally receive in my hands the Mid-Nor Demon Tower by Rackham.
I already set ,with a little saw, the slope of the 5x5 cm plint and I create a small ravine.
Before to primer it I have to add others details with milliput on the ground and a bit of grass.
in theory I'm not far to take brushes, but knowing me, you never know.

As for the job in style wild wild west, I could not resist the charm of Willie the Demolitionist of Malifaux series by Wird Miniature.
A plastic kit by 3D prototyping, probably due to the new decrees for the toy regulation.
By the first check the model is really same alike the 3D digital master.
There are not many details about the character, but the wheelbarrow full of explosives and extremely dynamic position of Willie made me fall in love at first sight and I thought immediately to FarWest mine, T.N.T and KABOOOM!

I already had few bits to add at the scene like barrels and bottles, but I enjoyed with the dremmel and toothpicks to prepare the mine lamps and the shovel in scale..the pickaxe that you see on the pic is only a failed test.

In the meantime, I show you one of the works finally finished:
Bishop of Ahkanar

and below here the link to go to vote and comment on CMON (thanks in advance)
BISHOP OF AHKANAR on CMON

and with that is all for this night, see ya at the next post!
Stai tuned.

Wokyard by Kraan 21-02

This is what I am doing at the moment.

I need to finally assemble all the pieces.
One is the Panzer Crew Summer figure from Alpine Miniatures 1/35, the other is the Northumbrian Warrior by Latorre.
They are being painted for the contest in Lyon at the end of the week.

Painted both with acrilycs. The bases are a mix of airbrush and then oils and enamels to add depth to the ground and vegetation.
The sunflower is from Voyager Model, the chair  from Miniart.

The shield in the box will be glued before attaching the hand with the spears.

Miss fewer hours per start for Lyon

and I find myself on my workyard to make the night..
aaaaa I was missing it, guys it's almost a year and a half that I didn't join a contest..and I feel like a kid, the night before his birthday..calculating how many beautiful gifts will receive the next day ..
(Also the metaphor, it's apt..Competition=dedicated stores=a lot of gifts)

oook, returning to us
Yesterday, I found myself to be a carpenter DIY (do it yourself) at home ..
It all started with the box for the miniatures (I needed a little one for the contest)
- buy what I need,
- find the best place where you will not be a problem for anyone, even if you'll dirty
- dispose tripod for the camera
- set the camera for the photos, and so on with screws and PVA glue
and in the next days you will got a step by step guide how to build your own DIY box for miniature.

But meanwhile I was putting order after the first session of carpentry, my sweetie was thought that we needed a bit of order in my work room, and then "someone" had to remove the cabinet .. "do you do it?!"

I've thought a moment, without the cabinet means more space for me a new shelf and another desk for work "but sure honey, I'll do it..even better I do now"
and so on to remove planks and doors.
After one hour, in the middle of the work, I asked to my darling if I could already organize the new free spaces of the closet.. and guess what was the answer:
"Yes dear, but I don't know if we have already the size of the crib and changing table"

.. So over the insult to injury ..
as well as deluded myself to be able to have a desk in addition, I find myself having also lost the place to put the only desk that I had..

Finished to disassemble and move all..looking at the clock and I decided that it was better to go back to painting, calculating missing fewer hours to the contest where I could forget my home little troubles.

And through metal vibration I get lost in this night of color and fantasy.

Cheers Guys! And Good Night!

Workyard by Trevis 17-02

Good evening guys!

And while outside the sun is going down, I can say that my weekend is finished ..
so what better way to pass the time listening some good music, cleaning home and ordering my Workyard and my ideas.
Sitting on the chair between a cup of coffee and a cigarette, they come to the surface all the projects that I have not even started.

But back to reality..I think the fact that there are only 4 days to my trip to Lyon.
ONLY 4 DAYS REMAINING?!
..and as always my list of miniature to bring to the competition is shortened.

then reorganizing the work bench here is the results:

from left to right we have:

- Bishop of Ahkanar  by Degra:
This piece is a commission for a D&D player and I did a little conversion on demand, instead of the sledge hammer I put a sword, a small buckler behind.
Unfortunately this resin piece is really fragile, and so I decided to change the original chain on a metal chain for bracelets.
The nice thing about it is that the heads are interchangeable, one with a helmet ( the original one) and the other one I choose to put a younger head wich the old one was in the blister.
Not requested, I also made a base for exposing with a wood plint ( I'll put a a little tutorial on how to do it in the next future), in order to have the miniature game available, and then be able to store in its plinth.
Now all that's left is to give it the primer and paint!

- Don quixote de la Mancha by phlegyasart:
It's a really funny and beautiful piece of phlegyasart range who was half painted in a corner of my desk for a few months becasue commissions had come earlier..
and so with the fact that Lyon is close, why not..I'll do a final sprint and try to finish it ..

- Thordek by Aitna Model:
Yes, I'm incorrigible, I have at all costs to change something in a piece but I need to feel mine to paint it
In this case the changes are heavy..and I'm still on open water with the crossbow and the arms
"..ARMS?!!.. But this model has no arms?!"
Don't worry guys you will see how it will come.
Anyway I want to congratulate with Marco "Gotrakk" Rizzotti for this interesting sculpture.
By his works you can understand his full love for Dwarfs.

- Lord Carver, BMMD, Esq III by Hordes - Privateer Press:
The last, but not least, is the one of the last miniatures painted for a quite big commission for gaming, 21 pieces of Minions by Ordes
It was long time since I didn't paint pieces of Privateer Press, and I can understand why, too much detailed, by the simple soldier to the biggest beast.
But just as fun and useful to got experience with various painting techniques.
I'll photograph the entire unit painted for your reference

Well, now I can say that the order has been restored in the desk at the moment..

..And after having tasted the freedom in my workyard and have played with the imagination, back to the sad reality of housework..Damn housework.

Good evening to all.
Cheers

Hi Guy!
These are my current WIPs:

Two for the next Golden Demon, one Hulk by Knight Model and a little conversion...

 (Using acrilycs, pigments and inks)

I gave the basecoat with the airbrush on the Knight Model's piece. Now I am working it with inks and acrilycs. I just made a little conversion, I removed the torn shirt from the shoulders and I placed him on some destroyed concrete just as he landed after one of his gigantic jumps. The effect was realized with gypsum and then placed with some pins. " HUUUUULK SMMAAAASH!!!"

The Knight on the left is almost done, a simple conversion, and the painting is almost finished. I just have to create the base. Got any ideas?

The model in the bottom center is just started, I just gave the base skin color with the airbrush. It will the single 40k entry for next GD.

Now I go painting! See ya!
