King Maulg

Ciao Guys!
When I took it in my hands the King Maulg by Figone, I decided to try the new SkinSet by Scale75 'cause I was curious to see how It was.
As always starting with the double primer, first in black and then white zenith, (both by GW) I continued with a airbrush coat base with mix of Basic Flesh Flesh + Pinky by Scale75 more than a hint of Navy Blue Andrea.
Given the base I added to the previous mix a bit of Light Skin by Scale75 to set the first light on the volumes of the model.
At the end of this process I made a very diluted wash of GW scab red all over the skin to highlight and contrast vaguely volumes.
The first shadows are created adding Indian Shadow by Scale75 to the Base tone.

The second shadow was made with a purple tone (GW scab red + navy blue Andrea) and a bit of tone base.
Then I gave a second light to the model adding even more Light Skin Scale75 to the first light compound.

So I spent a couple of glazes on all skins with the same purple (GW scab red + navy blue Andrea), who allow me to give some complementary contrast to the yellow tone that the skintone has in the meantime taken.

I go down even more by using a shadow Navy Blue Andrea. So I increase the light adding Pale Sand by Valleyo to the second light compound.
Usually I alternate light and shadow to move away gradually from the middle tone, but then a glaze with a base tone colour allows me to strengthen the medium tone, which in the meantime had a bit muffled.

As a final touch I increase again the lights adding Pale Sand Valleyo to the previous mixing until the result satisfies me.

For the base I used a branch and then painted, and the ivy is “Poison Ivy” by the Army Painter.

And here you can find the finished model, I hope you like it.

In conclusion, I am very satisfied by the skintone set by Scale75, the finishing is really dull and working mainly with hazing and glazing, I find it wonderful.
The only drawback is the lack of few tones that I necessarily integrated with other color brands.
Overall definitely PROMOTED

Turcopole - Memorial Bust Monreale 2013

Hello guys

A few days ago I posted the workyard with turcopole bust sculpted by Mariano Numitone, you can go and see it at the following link.

In the end, with a stroke of the brush, I concluded it
We were been to the skintone, and finally I added to my third light Palesand VMC up to the pure Palesand for the latest highlights.

I opened the set of the Brown Andrea colour with the hood.
I am very satisfied, although there are no tones but it is pretty much just a scale of brown.
The colors got a beautiful and dull finishing and the cromatic scale is convincing.
To give a bit of depth I added some haze of green in the shadows followed by the blue colour in the deepest shadows and I added a bit of khaki vmc for the final lights.

The turban has received a coat of flat black andrea + khaki vmc 50/50, and I simply went up with the lights adding khaki and I went into the shadows by adding black.

In conclusion, it's a pleasure paint this bust, forms slide beneath the brush without you even realize it.
I don't exclude that I could start another one with a different color scheme.
I just remember that you can find still few copies in 27Rosso!

Here as follow the pictures!

Workyard by Sam 08th January

Ciao Guys!

In a day's break from the commissions I ventured into this beautiful Bust a Memorial bust of MonReale 2013, sculpted by Mariano Numitone wich represent a Turcopole.
The height of the bust is 50mm
You can find this bust here on 27Rosso

I was looking for a skintone rather cold and dark, trying not to lose while the brightness.
I proceeded as follows:
Primer: Black primer coat and after the second coat of white primer
Base: beige red VMC+Medium flashtone VMC+ navy blue Andrea
First light: base tone + pale sand VMC
Second light: base tone+ palesand VMC+ kakhi VMC
First shadow: scab red GW
Second shadow: scab red gw+ navy blue Andrea
Tone: glazing with the base tone base
Third shadow: navy blue Andrea
Third light: base tone + palesand VMC (more than the second light)+kakhi VMC
Tone: glazing with catachan green GW

and here the pics

I hope you like it.
Cheers

Pirate of Tortuga 1660

Ciao Guys .
I'm here to present the last piece I done:

Pirates of Tortuga 1660 by Andrea Miniatures

Starting, I applied as usual the GW black primer followed by a couple of airbrush sprays in the zenith with Andrea flat white color .
For the pants, I gave a coat of Andrea Flat White, and I shaded with various ocher and khakhi colours. I kept the white base as the maximum light working mostly on the shadows.
I did the dirty mapping on the pants with a gray mixed with a touch of so diluited acrylic brown colour, and then I add an ocher tone to harmonize all together.

The skintone base date is airbrushed with a mix of VMC ( Vallejo Model Color) Beige Red + VMC Meduim Fleshtones, with a compound of 50/50 plus just a pinch of Andrea Navy Blue.
After I putted light adding a bit of VMC Khakhi and VMC Pale Sand on my medium tone, more and more until I reached the maximum light, using only pure VMC Pale Sand.
As for the shadows, I used a VMC natural Sienna with the addition of a little bit of red followed by VMC burnt sienna on the deepest shadows.
To finish the skintone I gave also a bit of tone on the lights with a pair passages before with GW camo green glazes and then with VMC Ochre, instead I cooled a bit the deepest shadows with a shade of bluish purple.

At the end, for the lower part of the model I just applied some different ocher pigment powder fixing with an acrylic resin.
