ABOUT US - Interview: New Member Sam

Hi Guys

In the last few days on Facebook, it were surfing a snapshot about the HysteriaYard new member..

Today we are so pleased to interview him, as always Amon prepare 5 simple questions, just to know his beard..

Present yourself: name, surname, age, nickname and the reason behind it.
Ciao , my name is Samuel Diociase.
I'm 32 years old and I don't have a real nickname, I'm signed on internet spots as SamD ( a simple diminutive of the name plus the first letter of my last name ), but at the end , everybody just call me Sam.

How long have you been painting? Why did you start?

My "history" as miniatures smearer began in 2000.

In this period some friends of mine were playing Warhammer, and at the end they pulled me into (If I have to say the truth I did much resistance).

It was like that I kept the brushes on my hands.

The adventure , however, was short-lived because an unhappy external causes, so I dropped everything only one year later.

The fate later ( after 12 years) wanted me to remember how much I enjoyed painting miniatures and so , in 2012 , I started shyly.

But only by January 2013 , supported by Francesco "Franciuus" Farabi I'm trying to work with a totally different but more sensible approach of the past. Before then I just wandered into complete darkness .

So to answer to your question, overall it would be three years.

Who's your favourite painter/sculptor? Who's your inspiration?

To avoid a list of dozens and dozens of painters and sculptors that I love, I just say only two:

- Franciuus for the painting.

- AlanCarrasco for the sculpture.

- For the inspiration instead I turn to Fabrizio "Rusto" Russo, an exceptional artist, painter and sculptor who really dares and experiments without fear of failure .

Now if you want I can list you the others dozens of painters and sculptors that I love? No, it's better not..so pass to the next question..

Do you have a particular piece? What's your favourite?

No, I don't have particular pieces particular to refer, but there are really many pieces that in each there is something that inspires me : who for the complexion , who for freehand , who for the atmosphere and for the tones and so on.

About my favorite piece , backing by MSS 2013 I can surely say it's the Jack in the Plucker a character by Brom, made real by the couple Palacios - Rusto. Wonderful in all its aspects.

ABOUT US - Interview: New Member R.I.P.

Hi Guys

Today we are so pleased to announce that there is a new member on Hysteria Yard Team.
Let us introduce him by the Amon's little interview during Genova Figurines Empire, at Sheraton Hotel.

Present yourself: name, surname, age, nickname and the reason behind it.
Ciao, my name is Andrea Nicolini and I am 31. My nickname is R.I.P. The reason behind it concerns the name of my girlfriend and the peace I found after meeting her...

How long have you been painting? Why did you start?
It's about 10 years. I started because some friends started playing Confrontation (of the now defunct Rackham). They had no intention of painting their models, I wasn't interested in the game but I have always been fond of drawing and Art. So when they asked me to try painting them, I said yes.
For the first 5 years I painted seldomly, I was just interested in the "tabletop level". Also because I didn't know any other painter, and so I just stagnated. Then I met the "Legio Pictorum" forum, and the gates opened: people like minded on an artistic and personal level. Now I paint to become better and better...

Who's your favourite painter/sculptor? Who's your inspiration?
It's a difficult question, there are too many of them. If you want two names I can say I really like Fabrizio”Rusto” Russo because of the way he uses the colors, there is no equal to him, and I really like Max “Amon Chakai” Richiero because the way he uses them it is crazy.
But there are still to many of them and usually I look up at the pieces more than their authors, trying to understand how they get a certain result and I try to learn watching (that's why contest are so helpful, you watch the pieces live). As sculptors I really dig Andrea Jula, my favourite and then comes Joaquin Palacios, a dragon!

Do you have a particular piece? What's your favourite?
There's too many! The first that pops in my mind is the first piece that truly made my jaw drop and it's the piece that pushed me to do better. It's the BELAK’HOR  with which Francesco Farabi won the slayer sword in 2007 (is that right?), than there is the great MASQUES by Fabrizio Russo, one of my favourite, And also because it's in my cabinet there is FEAR by Max Richiero because it shows how with few resources you can create a splendid work…

Can you show us some piece?

Bullk Brock

These three are made in acrilyc, using mostly "Allegro" colors. I prefer not using premade colours for the skintone, I make them starting with primary colours, my specialty infact are "non human" skintones.

Taurus

This is my second experiment with oil colors. It's a technique I really like but because of the time required I use it rarely, really a pity.

Shield

This is my first serious try doing “freehand”, It's an area that always captivated me but I never really tried seriously, now that I tried I can say it's quite fun just doing it for the sake of doing it on something such a banner or shield.

Happy that now R.I.P.  is joing the Team, we are waiting for his next work on this channel.

Welcome on Hysteria Yard : About us

1863
"...Everything was set...to leave that place, to close it with no locks so that someone else could loose himself inside. He was confident about it.
No more in that unholy garden! no more strange ideas! no more little beings ! no more unrelenting colors obsessing the mind night and day!
Outside, he was a commoner, one of the people, but Inside, mystical forces burned through him, nurturing his creativity, journeying through time and space itself.
It was during those feverish travels that he worked, he created, he played and his ideas took form
He was a seasoned man, but inside that garden time was motionless...an island between Fib Alley and Woodpecker Lane...right inside the productive center.
It was time to get rid of all those strange ideas and become an adult...no more games...he had to fit in the common daily life
So that's how he got out, through the iron gates in which a terrible name was wrought, Hysteria Yard.
He shed one little tear, probably caused by the wind, that's what he told himself.
He walked away to home, leaving behind that garden..."

Today
"...The day was dull as usual.
Nor rain, nor sun and people minding their own day to day business.
Three young men, from different quarters of the City, walking.
They were roaming the streets, not looking for something particular, without knowing they were sharing the same thought of doing something, of doing something that would give them scope,they felt it inside, but they didn't find the right approach.
In their minds that idea was fleeting, hardly determinable or almost explainable.
They kept walking, in the grim grey daylight. 
They bumped in each other, as if it was destiny or the same shared idea acting like a magnet, in front of a little rusty iron gate, between Fib Alley and Woodpecker Lane.
The three men were rather nervous, willing to share their thoughts so they decided to sit somewhere and talk.
And just behind the gate stood a little garden with benches, tables and fountains, maybe in the past it had been a magnificent place, a little green eden, where people could sit and enjoy a calm and nurturing environment.
Anyhow decay took hold of that place, no locks to the gate, poison ivy growing unchecked for years concealing the entrance.
They stepped inside, burning with curiosity, and they uncovered a streetsign in the wrought iron...Hysteria Yard."

And here we are in Hysteria Yard..

We met because we shared the same passion.

We coveted the same thing: little pieces of canvas, be they metal, plastic or resin. 

We have got a lot of different Ideas, but We agree on few things: painting, art and sharing.

There are no secrets, there are no mystic techniques, there is no Secret Order of The Mystic Wannabe.

We'd like to share with you our passion, our opinions and our works.

We decided to bide our time, and now we reside together in Hysteria Yard..
